Krong Bong District was selected as the revolutionary base (code-named H9) of the province during the resistance war. The H9 revolutionary base has become a historical landmark, significantly supporting the revolutionary movement across a vast area of Southern Central Highlands until the day of complete victory. In 1996, Krong Bong District and two collectives, the H9 People's Security Unit and the Ngoc Khue Commune Guerrilla Unit, were awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the State. Furthermore, in 2010, five communes in Krong Bong District's revolutionary base area were honored with the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces. H9 was the revolutionary base and the first liberated area in the province on May 9, 1965. From then until the country's reunification on April 30, 1975, H9 - Krong Bong served as a shelter, nurturing, and supporting the resistance agencies of Đak Lak Province, leading the struggle for national liberation to total victory.

Despite the attention and efforts of the Party committees, authorities, and the inhabitants of various ethnic groups residing in the area, the natural conditions are not entirely favorable. Additionally, the starting point is low, leaving some policy families and ethnic minority households struggling with housing and living conditions.

On June 30, 2024, Happy Home Fund and Bac Tay Nguyen Mineral Investment Joint Stock Company, in collaboration with Comrade Do Quoc Huong, Secretary of the District Party Committee, Comrade Nguyen Ngoc Phap, Deputy Chairman of the District People's Committee, and other representatives from the District Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the district, and Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of four communes and towns including Cư Pui, Hoa Phong, Yang Reh, and Krong Kmar Town, organized a ceremony to provide support for the construction of 10 charity houses for policy families and ethnic minority households with housing difficulties in the area.
